Elburg-Smit achieves BRCGS Packaging Materials certification
Elburg-Smit has achieved the BRCGS Packaging Materials certification. This certification confirms that our packaging solutions and operational processes meet the stringent quality and food safety standards applied within the food industry. It represents an important step in the expansion of our services within the fresh produce market.
Assurance for horticulture clients and opportunities in the fresh produce market
For our horticulture clients, this certification strengthens an already trusted partnership with additional assurance, consistency and future readiness. For customers active in the fresh produce and food-related markets, it confirms that Elburg-Smit is fully prepared to supply packaging solutions suitable for strictly controlled environments.
What does this mean in practice?
-
We work exclusively with controlled, approved and traceable materials
-
Processes and procedures have been tightened, documented and safeguarded
-
Production and logistics are subject to additional quality and safety checks
-
Internal audits support continuous improvement and compliance
Intensive improvement, testing and safeguarding
The certification is the result of an eighteen-month improvement programme. During this period, an internal project team worked closely with an external specialist to systematically optimise and document our processes. From material selection and test orders to enhanced controls within production and logistics, all steps are designed to ensure safe, reliable and consistent operations.
Audit findings and improvement actions implemented immediately
All process components were assessed during the audit. Any minor improvement points were addressed immediately. As a result, the logistics department now operates with additional checklists, and transport vehicles are inspected for contamination or unwanted substances prior to use.
Ready for growth in fresh produce and food packaging
With the BRCGS Packaging Materials certification, Elburg-Smit is ready to further expand within the fresh produce and food markets. At the same time, this step reinforces our position within the horticulture sector, where requirements for quality assurance, food safety and process control continue to increase.
This allows us to remain a future-proof partner for existing clients while supporting new markets with the same care, creativity and reliability Elburg-Smit is known for.
