Sustainability

At Elburg-Smit, we believe that sustainability is not only a responsibility, but also an opportunity to add value. For our customers, our employees and the world. Our sustainability policy is based on the 4 Ps of sustainable business: People, Planet, Prosperity and Partnership:

People: Taking care of people

Our employees and partners are at the heart of our organisation. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and inspiring working environment where talents flourish. We do this through:

  • Training and development: Investing in knowledge and skills.

  • Health and well-being: Providing healthy workplaces and supporting a good work-life balance.

  • Fair cooperation: Respectful and equal relations with suppliers and customers.

Planet: Caring for the earth

As a specialist in labels and packaging, we feel responsible for minimising our environmental footprint. We minimise our CO2 emissions through innovative technologies such as heat pumps and solar energy. In addition to our quality management ISO 9001:2015 we are also certified for environment ISO 14001:2015. We choose sustainable materials, processes and innovations, including:

  • Sustainable raw materials: We are committed to preserving our planet by using sustainable materials. All our cardboard is produced from sustainably managed forests, and we are proud of our FSC®C007957 and PEFC/30-31-596 -certifications that confirm our commitment to sustainable forest management. View our full material overview here.

  • Efficient production: Our modern printing processes are designed to optimise both efficiency and quality, while minimising our impact on the environment

  • Climate-conscious choices: Reducing CO2 emissions throughout our supply chain.

Prosperity: Creating value

Sustainable business is also about economic sustainability. We want to inspire our customers with solutions that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also commercially sound. We achieve this through:

  • Innovation: Always at the forefront of new techniques and concepts.

  • Quality: Delivery of high-quality products that last.

  • Efficiency: Smart logistics and production processes to minimise costs and waste.

Partnership: Stronger together

True sustainability is achieved together. We work closely with customers, suppliers and other partners to develop sustainable solutions that make an impact. Examples include:

  • Chain responsibility: Working with suppliers who share our vision.

  • Community engagement: Supporting local initiatives and projects.

  • Co-creation: Developing new packaging concepts together with our customers, such as our label and packaging line of AgriCard, a biodegradable material made from agricultural waste.
