Ready for PPWR, together

The next phase of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, also known as PPWR, will begin in August this year. The regulation aims to make packaging more sustainable, reduce packaging waste, and create greater clarity and consistency across Europe regarding packaging and packaging materials.

As a packaging supplier, we closely monitor these developments. At Elburg-Smit, we have formed an internal project team dedicated to carefully interpreting the legislation, with input from every department, translating the requirements into our own processes, and preparing the information our customers will need.

An important part of PPWR is transparency throughout the supply chain. We must be able to demonstrate where materials come from and to what extent they comply with the applicable requirements. We have therefore started collecting the necessary information from our suppliers.

We are also working on declarations of conformity for each product group. These declarations will enable us to confirm to our customers that the relevant packaging complies with the applicable PPWR requirements.

In short, we are on schedule.

In the coming period, we will continue to monitor developments relating to PPWR closely. This will allow us to support our customers clearly, carefully, and in a timely manner regarding what the regulation means for their packaging.
