Colour trends & green inspiration in the horticulture sectorIn early July, Elburg-Smit visited the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival, one of the UK’s largest and most influential floral events – a true celebration of horticultural creativity and innovation.
As a specialist in packaging solutions for the ornamental horticulture sector, it’s essential for us to stay closely connected to market developments. This annual festival offers a wealth of inspiration: from discovering new plant varieties to spotting emerging colour trends and gathering visuals that we later apply in packaging and label design.
Colour trends & standout planting
A clear frontrunner this year was the colour yellow, which also made waves at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show earlier this season. From vibrant Achillea and elegant Scabiosa to aromatic Foeniculum vulgare, yellow brought energy and warmth to many of the show gardens.
Beyond visual beauty, the event also explored the deeper value of plants. Medicinal and therapeutic uses were a key theme, highlighting species like Alchemilla mollis (for women’s health), Valeriana officinalis (for relaxation and wellbeing), and fennel for digestive support. Edible gardens and community plots also received special attention, showing the power of green spaces for both health and connection.
